ABOUT US

Thoughtful travel planning inspired by a genuine love of Sweden

Sweden Travel Collective was created out of a desire to share a different side of Sweden with travelers.

Many people visiting Scandinavia spend time in Stockholm, and for good reason. But beyond the cities, Sweden offers an incredible range of experiences that are often less visible to international travelers: archipelagos and coastlines, forests and countryside, slower rhythms, design, food culture, history and a deep connection to nature.

thoughtful, personal and genuinely connected

experience more of what makes Sweden special

We created Sweden Travel Collective to help people experience more of what makes Sweden special, and to help shape trips that feel thoughtful, personal and genuinely connected.

Our approach combines detailed planning with a more independent and flexible style of travel. We believe some of the best experiences happen when there’s space to slow down, explore naturally and experience a destination beyond the obvious highlights.

As lifelong travelers ourselves, travel has always been a meaningful part of our lives, personally and professionally. Together, we bring a balance of meticulous planning, destination knowledge and real-world travel experience to the work we do with clients.

Erin Merrill

Founder & Travel Consultant

Professionally, Erin has built a career around meticulous planning, organization and project management — leading large-scale programs, infrastructure projects and complex implementation efforts. Over time, that same attention to detail naturally extended into personal travel planning, where organizing thoughtful and well-paced trips became a genuine passion.

From Northern California and now living in Europe, travel has long been a major part of Erin’s life, with regular independent travel throughout the US, Europe and beyond, including trips to New Zealand, Thailand, Mexico and destinations across Scandinavia and Western Europe.

Erin particularly enjoys shaping trips around atmosphere and experience — balancing cities, nature, pacing and local culture in a way that feels natural and personal. Her favorite experiences in Sweden often include the archipelago, the west coast, local food and craft beer, and simply exploring a new place on foot.

When traveling, Erin is happiest wandering through neighborhoods, spending time in cafés, visiting art and pop culture museums, and discovering local food, wine and beer along the way.

Adam Malmnäs

Sweden Destination Specialist

Born in Sweden and raised between Sweden and South Africa, Adam brings both local knowledge and decades of international travel experience to Sweden Travel Collective.

After studying in Lund and later living in Stockholm, Adam established and operated his own travel agency, building a 20-year career focused on bespoke travel planning throughout southern Africa. Now back in Europe, he combines that extensive planning experience with a deep personal knowledge of Sweden’s regions, culture, history and landscapes.

Adam especially enjoys helping travelers discover the variety Sweden has to offer — from Stockholm and historic cities to quieter regions, coastal areas, countryside experiences and places many visitors might otherwise overlook.

When traveling, Adam is usually drawn toward the history of a place — particularly museums, military history and historic sites — though outside the museums you’ll likely find him on a walking tour, trying local food, or listening to live music.  Stockholm and the Sörmland area still remains Adam’s favorite area of Sweden.

How We Travel

We’re both independent travelers at heart

We enjoy exploring places slowly, spending time outside the obvious tourist path, and experiencing the culture, rhythm and atmosphere of a destination in a more local and personal way.

For us, travel is rarely about trying to see everything. It’s about creating experiences that feel memorable, balanced and connected to place.

That philosophy shapes how we help our clients plan travel as well.
